Trail outdoor market dates announced

The Trail Market will return to the Esplanade starting Friday, June 7.

The City of Trail and the Trail and District Chamber of Commerce (TCOC) have announced the return of the Trail Market on the Esplanade, with an opening date of June 7.

“There is a small committee who has been working with the Chamber to get our market back into full swing,” said Coun. Eleanor Gattafoni Robinson at Monday night council.

“From June 7 to October 11, they will be held every second Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.”

Gattafoni said that there has already been a lot of interest from some of the vendors and she is hopeful that everyone will get on board this year, like last.

Several vendors will be selling wares such as clothing, jewelry, pottery, and food, and will be set up along the Esplanade from Spokane Street to Jubilee Park.

Vendors for this year’s market will receive one free booking when they book space for 10 markets in advance.

This summer, more spaces with electrical power will be available for an additional fee.

Regular spots will cost $20, and spots with power, $25.

Vendors information, market bookings and event logistics will be processed through the Chamber, said Norm Casler, executive director of the TCOC.

“We will be encouraging our members and all downtown shop owners to use this as an opportunity to drive even more business to the downtown core by holding sidewalk sales, running promotions, and handing out coupons or flyers at the market.”

Gattafoni said the market brought over 6,000 visitors and 125 vendors into the downtown core last year, and the committee is excited to showcase the City again this summer.

“We are hoping to see everybody very soon down on the Esplanade with the million dollar view.”
