Following their concert at Poplar Ridge last Thursday, Tek Duet members Bessie Wapp, from Nelson, and Riondel resident Ben Johnson met Marie Caron and other residents and Carol Vanelli Warosz of Teck Metals. The company is the primary sponsor of the Trail Care Concert series at Poplar Ridge and Columbia View Lodge, which is also supported by Kootenay Savings Credit Union.

Megan Halpin and her mother Donna dug up hundreds of tulips from the Community in Bloom flowerbed on the corner of Victoria Street and Highway 22 last week. For a small donation, residents can take the bulbs home to plant in their own gardens.

Under repair

City crews work to replace the asphalt along Glover Road last week after rain created a sinkhole underneath the sidewalk. The asphalt was to be stripped, the hole filled with dirt, repaved and better sealed. According to public works manager Larry Abenante, the work was more maintenance related, not an actual serious problem.
