The big band sound of the SwingSationS is returning to the stage on Saturday (March 25), ending a three-year timeout due to pandemic fallout.
That means anyone pining to rhumba, cha-cha, and waltz is invited to join the band for a night of music, dancing and mingling at the Fruitvale Memorial Centre from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Pre-registration is not required, however tickets ($20) are available in advance at Trail Coffee Company, Mallard’s Source for Sports in Castlegar, and Country Roads General Store in Fruitvale. To reserve tickets call Clark White at 250.367.6115.
Tickets are also available at the door.
Prior to the pandemic, SwingSationS had been playing several dances a year in the Fruitvale hall, located at 1968 Main St. Due to provincial health laws, the last dance was held long ago — in March 2020.
The SwingSationS is a first-class dance band that plays music of the greats like Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Guy Lombardo, and Glenn Miller to name a few. Once known as the Novatones, the name was changed to SwingSationS under the leadership of band leader Clark White.
