The Beaver Valley Lions Club has generously donated $2,000 to support palliative care renovations at Columbia View Lodge.
These funds will help Greater Trail Hospice renovate two palliative care rooms, creating a more comfortable and supportive space for individuals on their end-of-life journey.
“A heartfelt thank you to the Beaver Valley Lions Club for their generosity and dedication to enhancing local healthcare,” the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) Health Foundation shares. “Your compassion is making a meaningful difference in our community.”
Last fall, the Greater Trail Hospice Society announced its commitment to fully renovate the two Community Palliative Rooms at Columbia View Lodge and invited the community to support this transformation.
Brenda Hooper, chairperson of the hospice society, shared that hospice volunteers frequently provide care in these palliative rooms and noticed they were in need of attention.
After bringing this concern to the board, the society began collaborating with Columbia View Lodge and the KBRH Health Foundation to explore renovation possibilities.
In partnership with the KBRH Health Foundation, the society has been actively raising funds to bring this meaningful project to life.
Planning and fundraising are now underway for the $90,000 renovation.
“We invite the community to help us create a comforting space for patients and their families during their end-of-life journey,”Hooper shared.
“Your generous donations will directly improve the quality of care and comfort, transforming these rooms into warm, peaceful spaces where individuals can spend their final days.”
The upgrades will include new flooring, beds, mattresses, improved lighting, fresh paint, window coverings, and a nutrition cart for added convenience for families.
