Conservative MP Rob Morrison is running for re-election in the newly named Columbia-Kootenay-Southern-Rockies riding against a slate of new faces.

Morrison will be on the April 28 federal election ballot along with the NDP’s Kallee Lins, Green Party candidate Steven Maffioli, independent candidate Jim Wiedrick and People’s Party of Canada candidate Andrew Skinner.

The Liberal Party has not so far named a candidate although a riding spokesperson said that announcement would likely come this week.

The riding formerly known as Kootenay-Columbia has historically been a Conservative stronghold, with the exception of 2015-2019 when an NDP MP was elected. Morrison was first elected in 2019 and also prevailed in the 2021 campaign when he took 43.62 per cent of the the vote.
