The Greater Trail Hospice Society has pledged to fully renovate the two Community Palliative Rooms at Columbia View Lodge and invites the community to support this meaningful transformation.
In partnership with the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) Health Foundation, the society is actively raising funds to support this important project.
“Our hospice volunteers frequently provide care in these palliative rooms, and they noticed the rooms were in need of some attention,” says Brenda Hooper, chairperson of the society. “They brought this to our board’s attention, and we immediately began collaborating with Columbia View Lodge and the KBRH Health Foundation to explore the possibilities.”
Planning and fundraising are currently underway for the $90,000 renovation, Hooper adds.
“We invite the community to help us create a comforting space for patients and their families during their end-of-life journey.”
The upgrades will include new flooring, beds, mattresses, improved lighting, fresh paint, window coverings, and a nutrition cart for added convenience for families.
The Greater Trail Hospice Society expressed gratitude for the support from the KBRH Health Foundation and Interior Health, and is proud to collaborate on this significant project.
“We encourage everyone to get involved,” Hooper emphasizes.
“Your generous donations will directly improve the quality of care and comfort, transforming these rooms into warm, peaceful spaces where individuals can spend their final days.”
