Have you spotted the new bins in downtown Trail?

If you’ve strolled through downtown Trail recently, you might have noticed the eye-catching new garbage receptacles adding both function and flair to the streets.

The city sought more durable, secure, and animal-resistant bins, and thanks to the Trail Historical Society, these new additions now feature custom wraps showcasing imagery from Trail’s past.

"The city’s manager of engineering and projects approached me last summer with the opportunity to customize some of the receptacles with wraps," explains Claire Samulak, City of Trail spokesperson. "We are so happy with how they turned out."

The bins, known as "Freedom 55" models from Haul-All, are built to be bear-resistant and include a hinged bag frame for easy waste removal.

Local resident David Dudeck, back in Trail after spending time in a warmer climate, captured images of the city, including the new bins, while enjoying the mild, sunny weekend.

"While walking downtown, I noticed the photo on the bin showing a parade scene of decades past," Dudeck shared, referring to the Bay Avenue/Spokane Street receptacle.

"It was interesting how the old and new viewpoints meshed together, providing a snapshot of Trail's evolution."

And, as for being back in town?

"It is so nice to be home," he added.
