Gyro Park will be filled with laid-back rhythms and vibrant vocals on Thursday evening as Truckvancar and Tina Leon take the East Trail stage for the next instalment of Kootenay Savings Music in the Park.
Presented by the Trail and District Arts Council, the July 3 show kicks off at 6:15 p.m. and promises a family-friendly night of live music set in one of the city’s most scenic riverside spots.
The evening opens with local five-piece Truckvancar, delivering their Alt. Soul-Reggae-Rock blend to the park.
Montreal’s Tina Leon will then headline with a genre-bending mix of jazz, funk, soul, and pop, drawing deep from her Motown influences.
The summer concert series runs through to Aug. 14, with the park coming alive every Thursday from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. with live music spanning alt-rock, country, world, pop, and more.
“It is a pleasure and a challenge to program a lineup of fabulous local acts and touring groups every year,” says artistic director Nadine Tremblay.
“We are aiming to create a fun and affordable family night out for locals and visitors with music that will appeal to everyone.”
The 2025 series also brings back the popular Night Markets on July 17 and Aug. 14, pairing artisan vendors and food trucks with a lively concert atmosphere. Two new special events also debut this year:
On July 24, remarkABILITY Fest takes centre stage; a celebration of community inclusion created in partnership with Diverse Family Roots.
On stage, Rock Squad, a four-piece classic rock band born out of a Rock4Autism awareness event, leads the night with crowd-pleasing energy.
Then, on Friday, Aug. 8, the series shifts into party mode with the debut of Music in the Dark Beach Dance Party, a dusk-to-dark DJ showcase headlined by the dance-floor-ready Apollo Suns from Winnipeg.
This $10, no-alcohol event brings summer vibes and high-energy grooves to the East Trail venue.
If rain is in the forecast, the Bailey Theatre’s Facebook page will post updates by 2 p.m. on potential venue changes.
Regular Thursday shows are by donation with a suggested $3 minimum.
Passes, $30, are available online or at the park.
