Nelson cyclist Hauck the top local athlete at Singletrack 6

The event featured stages in Nelson, Castlegar, Kaslo, New Denver and Nakusp.

Nelson's Travis Hauck was the top West Kootenay athlete at the TransRockies' Singletrack 6 mountain bike race.

The event featured two stages in Nelson as well as races in Castlegar, Kaslo, New Denver and the finale July 16 in Nakusp.

Hauck, a past winner at TransRockies' races and Nelson's 2021 sports ambassador, finished 12th overall with a time of 12 hours 35 minutes 32.8 seconds. His result meant he finished fourth overall in the under-50 men's category.

Rossland's Jonas Sandstrom finished 34th overall, and was third place in the 50-59 men's category with a time of 14:29:59.5.

Salmo's Peter Cooney followed in 63rd, and was 13th overall in the 50-59 men's division.

Other local finishers included Nakusps Jonathan Williams (66th overall, 31st in U50 men); Nelson's Kelly Burke (104th, 10th in U50 women) and Nelson's Warren Borlase (108th, ninth overall in 60-plus men).

Whistler's Quinton Disera was the overall winner 10:31:09.0, while the top women's finisher was Squamish's Sonya Looney.
