Recognize this truck? Fuel theft outside Trail under RCMP investigation

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect or locate the vehicles involved

Police are investigating the theft of approximately 800 litres of gasoline from a commercial tank located in the 8000 block of Old Waneta Road, near Rock Island.

The incident was reported to Trail RCMP at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 4.

A frontline officer responded and launched an investigation.

According to RCMP, a man connected to the theft was seen operating both a red truck and a white Ford truck during multiple incidents.

The thefts are suspected to have occurred on April 4 at 2 a.m., April 6 just before 11 p.m., and April 9 shortly before 10 a.m.

Surveillance footage from April 6 shows a man dressed in full camouflage clothing with his face covered, connecting a hose to the commercial tank.

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect or locate the vehicles involved.

“Please report any suspicious activity involving this man or his trucks," says Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“Trail RCMP suspects that thefts will continue until he is caught.”
