Red Mountain soft opening hits the slopes Dec. 7

Red Mountain has a whopping 190 cm of November snowfall and a 128 cm base

Red Mountain announced that it is offering area skiers an early Christmas gift.

The Rossland ski hill will be ready for skiers and snowboarders on Saturday, Dec. 7, with limited runs, but discounted lift tickets.

"With a whopping 190 cm of November snowfall and a 128 cm base, how could we not?" said Red in its update.

Red Chair, Silverlode, T-Bar, and Magic Carpet will all be running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting on Saturday (Dec. 7).

Operations and patrol teams will continue to work hard preparing the rest of the mountain, with expectations of Motherlode, Paradise, Topping, and possibly Grey open by December 14.

"In the meantime, show some love to our crew—they’re putting in the work to make this early start happen!"

The opening is much earlier than last year's Dec. 28 start, which came two weeks later due to below-average snowfall in the region.

For December 7–13, lift tickets will be discounted at $99 for Adults and similar discounts for our other age categories, available online or at the window.

Advance-purchase discounts, half-day, and Silverlode/T-bar tickets will begin Dec 14.

Sourdough will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. Skiers will also be able to relax with a beverage at Rafters, which will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekend and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. during the weekday.

Snow School, Rentals, and Piste Off will open Dec. 14, and the Free Shuttle Bus is yet TBD for Dec. 7 and 8, stay tuned. Check out redresort.com.
