Registration opens for Rossland Skating Club; programs available for all ages

Registration is now open at rosslandskating.com.

The Rossland Skating Club has announced the start of its skating season, offering programs for skaters of all ages, from three years old to adults.

Registration is now open at rosslandskating.com/registration.

“We are thrilled to welcome our new Head Coach, Kaleigh Hole,” said the Rossland Skating Club.

Kaleigh Hole, a Skate Canada Certified Provincial Figure Skating Coach, brings a wealth of experience in both competitive skating and coaching.

Originally from a small town in Manitoba, Hole moved to Ontario to pursue her dream of becoming a pair skater.

As a member of Canada’s junior and senior national teams, Hole competed in the Junior Grand Prix Final, Junior World Championships, and the Cup of China on the Grand Prix circuit.

After retiring from competitive skating, she earned a degree in Kinesiology and a Pedorthics Diploma from Western University in London, Ontario. While completing her studies, she also competed as a varsity pentathlete in track and field.

For the past seven years, Hole has worked as a pedorthist (a specialist who designs and fits custom orthotics and orthopaedic footwear) while continuing her passion for coaching.

She has coached skaters at all levels, from CanSkate and StarSkate to National competitors, and across all disciplines, including freeskate, skills, dance, and choreography. Her coaching includes both on- and off-ice training, for individuals and groups.

“She’s excited to lead the Rossland Skating Club as Head Coach and to open her own pedorthic practice in town,” added the club.

The skating season begins on Oct. 1, offering a variety of programs including Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, Rising Stars, StarSkate, and the newly introduced Adult and Teen Learn to Skate.

CanSkate, Skate Canada’s official 'Learn to Skate' program, is widely recognized as the best curriculum for developing foundational skating skills for a range of ice sports, such as figure skating, hockey, ringette, and recreational skating.

The new Adult and Teen Learn to Skate program will take place on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and is open to skaters of all skill levels.

“Come give it a try,” encouraged the club.
