Shoppers Drug Mart in Trail has donated $500 to support the Orthopedic Enhancement Project at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH).

"This donation benefits our skilled team of orthopedic surgeons and further advancing services for our community," the KBRH Health Foundation shares. "Thank you, Linda, and the entire team at Shoppers Drug Mart, for your continued support and dedication to improving healthcare close to home."

Matching donation pledge

The Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation has announced a major development in its "Light-Up the Hospitals!" Pledge Day campaign.

This holiday season, the foundation’s Orthopedic Enhancement Project is set to receive a significant boost, thanks to a generous $250,000 matching pledge from B.C. philanthropist Jim Pattison.

Donations made to the foundation between now and the end of the giving season will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling their impact and bringing much-needed advancements to orthopedic care at KBRH.

The funds raised will go toward acquiring cutting-edge medical equipment that will enable new surgical procedures, including total ankle replacements and same-day discharge for hip and knee surgeries.

This campaign will also empower the hospital’s orthopedic surgical team — comprised of both newly recruited and established orthopedic specialists — with a refreshed fleet of tools and upgraded technology, expanding their capabilities and enhancing care for local patients in a truly impactful way.

Lisa Pasin, executive director of the KBRH Health Foundation, emphasized that Pattison’s remarkable donation marks a pivotal step toward reaching the foundation’s $750,000 fundraising goal.”

“Jim Pattison’s matching pledge brings us closer to providing advanced orthopedic care within our community,” Pasin said. “The introduction of new procedures and equipment will allow more patients to receive crucial care locally, reducing the need to travel for surgeries.”
