Trail Smoke Eaters welcome Minnesota forward Gavin Jensen to the BCHL.

A high-end Minnesota product committed to play for the Trail Smoke Eaters for the 2024-25 season.

The Smoke Eaters signed Gavin Jensen last week, an 18-year-old forward who skated with Roseau High in Minnesota’s US High School League. Jensen amassed 16 goals and 36 points in 25 games last season, while scoring 52 points in 28 games the previous year.

At six-foot-three and 185 pounds, Jensen brings both skill and size to the Smokies.

“We are excited to bring Gavin into our program,” said Smoke Eaters GM and head coach Tim Fragle in a release. “He has had a couple of strong seasons at Roseau High and impressed our staff at the Minnesota ID camp this past May to earn this opportunity.”

Jensen also participated in the Minnesota High Performance Program, and played for Team Sanford Power in the Minnesota Elite League where he produced 16 points in 20 games.

Along with the Minnesota native, the Smoke Eaters have signed forwards Dylan Lariviere at six-foot-four, Josh Evashesen and Jack Ziliott at six-one, and committed two defencemen with junior experience in Noah Ziskie at six-three and Carter Matthews, six-two.

“Gavin is a big rangy forward with good hockey sense,” added Fragle. “His game has a lot of potential, and we believe it will translate well to the junior game.

“We look forward to working with Gavin and helping him in his overall development this season.”
