The Surrey Storm ‘06 fastball team along with Trail’s Paige Fennell, a left-handed pitcher, captured gold in the Futures Division at the 2024 Canada Cup tournament at Softball City in Surrey earlier this month.
The Storm lost just one game through the round robin and earned their spot in the final with a 4-3 win over the Saskatoon Selects.
The Storm then blew out the ‘05 White Rock Renegades 13-2 in the final to claim the championship.
A total of 24 teams competed in the division including teams from Israel, Ukraine, Chinese Taipei, and across the U.S. and Canada.
The team is coached by Shell Thompson and Liv Malescu from Delta and Trevor Fennell from Trail.
