The Trail Fire Fighters Charitable Society has made an incredible $10,000 donation to the Orthopedic Enhancement Project for Light-Up the Hospitals.
"This donation will be doubled thanks to Jim Pattison’s $250,000 matching gift — making an even greater impact on healthcare in our community," shares the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) Health Foundation.
Now it’s your turn, the foundation adds.
"Trail firefighters are challenging you to step up and make a donation to help us transform orthopedic care at KBRH. Together, we can reach our goal and bring advanced care closer to home."
Earlier this month, the KBRH Health Foundation announced a major development in its "Light-Up the Hospitals!" Pledge Day campaign.
This holiday season, the foundation’s Orthopedic Enhancement Project is set to receive a significant boost, thanks to a generous $250,000 matching pledge from B.C. philanthropist Jim Pattison.
Donations made to the foundation between now and the end of the giving season will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling their impact and bringing much-needed advancements to orthopedic care at KBRH.
The funds raised will go toward acquiring cutting-edge medical equipment that will enable new surgical procedures, including total ankle replacements and same-day discharge for hip and knee surgeries.
This campaign will also empower the hospital’s orthopedic surgical team — comprised of both newly recruited and established orthopedic specialists — with a refreshed fleet of tools and upgraded technology, expanding their capabilities and enhancing care for local patients in a truly impactful way.
Lisa Pasin, executive director of the KBRH Health Foundation, emphasized that Pattison’s remarkable donation marks a pivotal step toward reaching the foundation’s $750,000 fundraising goal.”
“Jim Pattison’s matching pledge brings us closer to providing advanced orthopedic care within our community,” Pasin said. “The introduction of new procedures and equipment will allow more patients to receive crucial care locally, reducing the need to travel for surgeries.”
Pledge Day
KBRH Health Foundation’s annual Pledge Day, set for Dec. 6 at Waneta Plaza, will provide an opportunity for community members to participate in the campaign.
Guests can enjoy holiday activities and make their donations in person, knowing that each dollar will be matched by Pattison’s generous commitment.
Those unable to attend can still take part by donating through various channels.
Online donations are accepted through the foundation’s website, and contributions can also be made by mail, phone, or in person at the foundation’s office, open Monday through Friday.
