Nicola Marynowski, head coach for the Trail Gymnastic Club, recently received the prestigious GFA (Gymnastics For All) Coach of the Year Award from Gymnastics BC in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of gymnastics.
The Trail Gymnastic Club started in 1962 with Alex Ross and is currently the longest continually running club in British Columbia.
Nicola took the reins in 2013 as a dedicated gymnastics coach, and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering the growth and development of young athletes both on and off the mat.
With nearly 20 years of coaching, under her guidance as Head Coach, Trail Gymnastic Club has evolved from a small-town club into a thriving centre of excellence, attracting participants from diverse backgrounds and skill levels to participate in competitive, recreational and preschool gymnastics.
The club currently has approximately 280 registered participants.
Recognizing the importance of providing opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities to experience the joy of gymnastics, Nicola has worked tirelessly to expand the recreation program to create a welcoming environment for individuals of all ages and abilities to pursue their passion for sport.
Nicola has been instrumental in organizing and participating in numerous community events aimed at promoting health, fitness, and active living.
This includes hosting gymnastics demonstrations to support the Family Action Network and to support charitable events such as the regional hospital fundraiser and you will see her leading the team in the Trail Silver City Days parade.
Nicola gives back to the gymnastic community through her mentorship and development of the Coach-In-Training Program that contributes to the ongoing sustainability of both the club and the gymnastics sport.
By offering the Coach-In-Training program to encourage and train young athletes to be future coaches, she is developing a pipeline of future talented coaches for the gymnastics community.
Currently the Trail Gymnastic Club has 11 employees and is supported by a volunteer board.
Beyond her accomplishments as a coach, Nicola is admired and respected by athletes, parents, and fellow coaches alike for her integrity, professionalism, and genuine care for the well-being of all those under her guidance.
She serves as a positive role model and mentor, instilling values of perseverance, discipline, and sportsmanship in all those she encounters.
