The Royal Canadian Legion, Trail Branch #11, has made a $1,000 donation to the Mental Health Matters Campaign, reinforcing dedication to supporting the health and well-being of the local community.

The Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) Health Foundation says the donation will help advance mental health care services across the region.

The funds, they note, will support improved patient care and help ensure compassionate, patient-centred services are available for people of all ages.

Lisa Babcock, vice chair of the KBRH Health Foundation, accepted the donation from Glenn Hodge, president of the Trail Legion, during a cheque presentation.

"The Trail Legion’s commitment to the well-being of our community is truly inspiring," the KBRH Health Foundation shared. "And their support strengthens our shared mission to make mental health care more accessible and effective.”

About the campaign

Launched in February 2025, the Mental Health Matters campaign is the KBRH Health Foundation’s most ambitious fundraising effort to date, with a goal of raising $2 million to improve mental health care across the Kootenay Boundary.

Funds will be invested in renovations to the Daly Pavilion (the acute psychiatric care unit), Harbour House (a residential rehabilitation facility), and in the development of a dedicated Pediatric Outdoor Space.

These improvements are aimed at creating safer, trauma-informed environments that prioritize dignity, recovery, and patient-centred care for people of all ages.
