The Trail Super League takes place Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the Trail Curling Rink.

This past week in the Trail Super League sponsored by Kootenay Savings Credit Union finally saw all the games go down to the last rock.

Team Don Freschi and Team Ken Fines played a clean game with not alot of guards in play. Team Freschi were in control most of the game, leading 3-1 after 4, and 4-2 after 6.

But a last rock miscue from Skip Freschi on an attempted double takeout left Skip Fines an easy draw for the only deuce of the game in the 7th, to be all tied coming home without.

Team Fines then got an early rock around cover, and rode that single stone to a steal of one in the 8th to win 5-4, and to everyone’s surprise, remain atop of the standings as the only undefeated team.

In a game featuring two Nelson resident skips, Team Nando Salviulo battled Jill Winters.

Team Salviulo forced Team Winters to draw for one in the 1st, then had to do the same themselves in the 2nd. Team Salviulo stole the next two ends, but Team Winters roared back with a deuce in 5 followed by a single steal in 6 to tie the game at 4 all.

Skip Nando made a beautiful draw thru a tight port for one in the 7th then stole the 8th when Skip Winters last two delicate come around taps overcurled, just creasing the guards, resulting in a 7-4 Team Salviulo win.

Team Ken Coles and Team Myron Nichol slugged it out in another tight match.

Team Coles stole singles in the first two ends before Team Nichol rebounded with one in the 3rd and steal of two in the 4th.

Team Coles took control with the only three of the entire night in the 5th and a steal of one in the 6th.

Team Nichol could only manage a single in the 7th, and were sitting two in the 8th before Skip Coles removed the open second shot, giving up a steal of one, but enough to hang on for a 6-5 victory, Team Coles first win of the season.

Team Partridge could not field a team this week, and had to default to Team Bartlett Excavating (Horning).
