Smokies kicked off their season with a flurry of action both on and off the ice.

The Trail Smoke Eaters kicked off their season with a flurry of action and excitement both on and off the ice this past week.

Wednesday night (Sept. 4), the Smoke Eaters started strong with a dominating 12-2 victory over the Cranbrook Bucks in an exhibition home game.

The team showed impressive form, igniting the home crowd with their performance.

The Smokies continued their winning streak Friday night, hosting the Penticton Vees at the Trail arena.

They secured another victory with a 7-4 scoreline, demonstrating their readiness for the season ahead.

Excitement extended beyond the rink with the 2024 Smokiepalooza Music Fest at Butler Park on Saturday.

The event featured a diverse lineup of bands, food, artisan vendors, and a kid zone where Smoke Eaters players entertained children with face painting and games.

Allison McCarthy, the team’s corporate sales and marketing manager, highlighted the success of the event and hinted at plans to make next year’s festival even more spectacular.

Lastly, on Sunday, the Smoke Eaters returned to the ice to face the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

Despite a hard-fought game, the Silverbacks edged out Trail with a narrow 3-2 win.

With a mix of impressive wins and community engagement, the Trail Smoke Eaters have set the tone for an exciting season.

Fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next as the team continues to build momentum.
