Old St. Nick is paying a special visit to his four-legged friends this weekend as Trail SPCA holds its annual pet photos with Santa fundraiser.

Local photographer Larry Doell is volunteering his time to capture the magic at Columbia Valley Greenhouses from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.

“All the money that’s raised locally, stays locally,” said shelter worker Mirissa Farias.

“All the money raised will go into the day-to-day welfare and taking care of our animals and the needs of the animals in the shelter.”

The Trail shelter had up to 100 animals over the past couple months awaiting placement, but is pleased to report 40 have found homes. There are currently dogs, cats, rats and bunnies ready to be adopted and puppy and kitten litters are on the way.

The “positive” event filled up quickly last year and time slots are starting to follow suit this year, said Farias.

For $10, pet owners get one 5x7 photo and can order more copies through Doell Photo.

To book an appointment, call the Trail SPCA at 368-5910.
