Alert cops nab cocaine trafficker

Local cocaine dealer arrested by Trail Crime Reduction Unit.

The tale of the tape worked against a Trail man last week after his infamy drew the attention of the Trail Crime Reduction Unit (TCRU).

The 39-year-old man possessed a lengthy criminal record and was well known to the TCRU, said RCMP Cpl. Darryl Orr of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Detachment.

So when he was spotted parked in his vehicle at a residence on Fourth Avenue in Trail on July 18 around 9 p.m. TCRU members came calling.

“Members arrested the male without incident,” Cpl. Orr said.

A search of the man revealed a quantity of cocaine that had been packaged for sale. He was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Cpl. Orr said other evidence of trafficking was also gathered during the search of the man.

He was later released on a promise to appear in Rossland Provincial Court in September, 2012.
