An avalanche plowed across Highway 3 Monday, approximately 30 kilometres east of Salmo, covering the stretch of road and closing it.
“RCMP Salmo members have just arrived on scene and confirmed that no one is trapped and that there are no injuries,” said Sgt. Dan Seibel.
The avalanche was reported just before 3 p.m.
Department of Highways started clearing the snow and a travel advisory went out that Kootenay Pass would not reopen until at least 8 p.m.
The RCMP also contacted Search and Rescue as a precaution, said Seibel.
