Black Jack Ski Club: Upon further review, skiers improve results

The following represents an even better and more accurate account of the Black Jack nordic ski racers’ results.

Many skiers from the BlackJack Ski Club attended the Teck BC Cup races in Kelowna last week. Every team member skied hard and our racers forced many close results.

The Saturday race was a Classic technique, sprint race with distances varying according to age.      Black Jack’s Julien Locke seized first in the 1.2-km Junior Men’s group while Hannah Schleppe finished second in the 250-metre Bantam Girls category.

In Midget Boys Remi Drolet claimed second overall and first in his age group for the 400-m.

Daniel Merlo skied to third place in the 600-m Juvenile Boys, and Nicole Perrin was second in the 1.2 km Junior Women’s group and

The Sunday race was an Interval Start, Skate technique, distance race.

Locke skied to a first place finish again in the Junior Men’s 10-km race, while Perrin also repeated her second place standing in the Junior Women’s 7-km category.

Merlo skied to a first place finish in the 7-K Juvenile Boys, while Drolet finished fifth overall and third in his age group in the 4-km event. Abby McLean skied to a third-place finish in her age group in the 1.5 km PeeWee girls.
