Car crooks strike again

Two cars were broken into on Topping Street Saturday night, but police are not, yet, linking the incidents to the other vehicle thefts that recently took place on Laburnum Drive.

Two cars were broken into on Topping Street Saturday night, but police are not, yet, linking the incidents to the other vehicle thefts that recently took place on Laburnum Drive.

“There appeared to be an attempt on another car in the area but no indication entry was gained or anything taken,” added Trail RCMP Sgt. Rob Hawton, who said the crooks took off with Bushnell binoculars and a Nintendo D1.

“I cannot speculate at this time if these thefts are linked to the earlier ones.”

Hawton is referring to six break and enters and thefts from vehicles in the Laburnum area that took place July 17.

Police have arrested two suspects, in relation to the rash of thefts, who will appear in Rossland court Aug. 20.

Police are reminding residents to lock up their vehicles and remove all valuables.
