With Family Day this weekend and the B.C. Senior Curling Championships in Trail next week, it’s a perfect time to visit the Riverfront Centre with its incredible collection of curling history. Above the classic curler in action adorns the top of the Kimberley Trophy, which was initially presented in 1926 at the Kootenay Curling Annual Bonspiel. The trophy is one of several classic pieces on display including the Grand Aggregate Trophy, presented in 1911 to the winners of the B.C. Curling Association Bonspiel, and the 1948 Dominion Curling Championship Plaque from the MacDonald’s Brier Tankard won by Trail’s Frenchy D’Amour rink. It marked the first time a B.C. rink won the national curling championship.
