Demolition of Eagles’ Hall begins this week

The City of Trail signed the warrant for the destruction of the former Eagles Building at 1505 Bay Ave.

The city has declared open season on the Eagles Hall as the wrecking ball is ready to roll and demolition and restoration of the site begins this week.

The City of Trail signed the warrant for the destruction of the former Eagles Building at 1505 Bay Ave. over to ReDevra Holdings Ltd. to complete the job.

Site preparation, which includes fencing off Helena Street adjacent to the former Eagles building along with parking stalls on Bay Avenue, began last week, but demolition began Monday and will take approximately two weeks to complete, said city communications coordinator Andrea Jolly in a press release.

“Heavy equipment will be necessary for the demolition and could be noisy at times,” she said. “Any dust from the demolition will be controlled with frequent water spray.”

In order to keep the peace in the neighbourhood, however, the demolition crew will work only between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. No demolition will take place on Sunday.

Jolly said ReDevra’s site foreman, Moe Simister, will be on site for the duration of the demolition.

“It is important to always exercise caution near this demolition site,” she said.
