Double trouble for thieving teens

Police may have solved two crimes at once.

Minutes after RCMP arrived at a break and enter scene in Salmo Sunday, a second break-in was reported just blocks away resulting in three arrests.

It began when RCMP responded to a call at Second Street around 9 a.m.

The Salmo RCMP, assisted by the Nelson Forensic Identification Section and the Dog Service Unit, were gathering evidence when a call came in that three men were breaking into a garage on Davies Avenue.

Police responded to that call and apprehended the three males near the scene. Each of the males is under 18 years-of-age and their names are not being released.

It is not confirmed but investigators are checking into seized items that may link the teens to both break-ins.

“Police are looking at potential charges against the youth for both break and enters,” said Staff Sgt. Dan Siebel operations N.C.O. Kootenay boundary regional detachment.

The boys have been released into adult supervision but will appear in court on Jan.10.

If you have any information on these events you are asked to contact the Salmo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
