Firefighters from Rossland, Trail and Warfield combined forces to knock down an early-morning fire at a home in lower Rossland on Friday.

A Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire and Rescue (KBRFR) news release stated an emergency call came in at 2:24 a.m. for a fire at 1662 Victoria Ave., in Rossland.

According to a KBRFR, a sharp-eyed neighbour alerted the family of four that their house was on fire and they were able to get out.

No injuries were reported and the fire is not considered suspicious.

“Stations 371 Rossland, 374 Trail and 372 Warfield responded to a residential structure fire with smoke and flames visible from the roof,” said Acting Captain Lee DePellegrin, in the press release.

Fifteen members from the Rossland fire hall along with six members from Warfield and four members from Trail were on the scene to fight the fire, which was deemed under control at 4:30 a.m.

“Crews were able to knock down the fire in the attic and protect adjacent structures,” said DePellegrin.

The fire is under investigation by regional fire rescue.
