A man who Nelson police say was found dead earlier this week has been identified as local radio personality Andreas Pittinger.

Pittinger’s death was confirmed by his family Thursday after police said in a statement Monday that an unidentified man had been found dead. Police did not release the cause of death but said it was not suspicious.

He had not been seen since Feb. 7 and was initially reported missing on Feb. 9. Pittinger’s father, Hans, told the Star that his son’s body had been found near his home.

Pittinger was known locally for hosting the show Pineapple Express on Kootenay Co-op Radio.
