Over 60 marijuana plants were seized in an RCMP grow operation raid in the Pass Creek area late last week.

Police executed a search warrant on Thursday in the 2300 block of Pass Creek Road — 25 kilometres northeast of Trail — and arrested two suspects inside the residence.

Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Dan Pollock said the grow operation contained over 60 plants, some dried and packaged marijuana, as well as a loaded rifle without a permit. Cpl. Pollock said there was also evidence the grower was producing cannabis oil.

Five charges have been made against a Castlegar couple in their mid-40s, including production for purpose of trafficking, unlawful possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Both suspects were released by a Judicial Justice of the Peace and are expected to appear in court in Castlegar on May 23.
