NDP leadership candidate Nathan Cullen stops in Trail on Tuesday

Nathan Cullen, a four-term MP from the northern riding of Skeena-Bulkley Valley, is on a tour of his home province to spread a message.

The only Western Canadian MP to run for NDP leadership will visit Trail Tuesday.

Nathan Cullen, a four-term MP from the northern riding of Skeena-Bulkley Valley, is on a tour of his home province to spread a message.

The 39-year-old is convinced that New Democrats and other progressive Canadians are open to new ideas that ultimately defeat Stephen Harper.

“Cooperating and working together are Canadian values,” he said in a news release. “And it’s time we had a government that reflected them. The days of 40 per cent of voters giving Mr. Harper a majority must end.”

He feels Canada needs a progressive government that acts on climate change, voting reform and narrowing the growth in economic inequality.

Cullen will hit Trail Tuesday from 2-3:30 p.m. at Caffe Americano before continuing his visit of the Kootenays.
