Police apprehend one following robbery

Partner sought in 7-Eleven theft

A Trail resident in his early ‘20s has been picked up for robbing the 7-Eleven in Trail with a weapon in hand, but police are still on the lookout for his accomplice.

Two men wearing “facial coverings” entered the convenience store on Victoria Avenue at 3 a.m. Sunday.

Producing a knife in hand the suspect, known to the police, demanded cash from the clerk and the two men fled with just over $100.

The clerk wasn’t hurt and there were no other customers in the store at that time, according to Trail RCMP Sgt. Rob Hawton.

The suspect was arrested on the street in East Trail at 8:30 a.m. that same morning and will appear in Nelson court today.

“A charge of robbery with a weapon is being recommended to Crown counsel,” said   Hawton.

“We do not have a description of the second suspect that we are releasing just yet, as the investigation is ongoing.”
