Police lay charges in Grand Forks city hall fire

The Grand Forks city hall was damaged by fire Thursday morning. Police have laid arson charges against a Grand Forks man.

The Boundary Regional Detachment, RCMP has released the name of the person charged in connection with the arson fire at Grand Forks City Hall on Thursday morning.

Andre Conn, 31, of Grand Forks has been remanded in custody to appear in Nelson court on Sept. 24 to answer to chargers of break and enter, arson, possession of incendiary materials and possession of break in instruments.

The fire occurred at 5:30 a.m. Thursday morningThe fire department was able to extinguish the blaze, however, significant damage was caused to the entire first floor.

The Grand Forks RCMP is seeking the public's assistance with the investigation and asks that anyone with information to contact them at 250-442-8288.
