Police have released the name of the motorcyclist who died of his injures over the Canada Day long weekend.

Delta resident Brian McDonald, 55, apparently lost control of his motorcycle when trying to manoeuvre a left-hand curve on Highway 3 between Castlegar and Christina Lake on July 2.

According to an RCMP news release, speed may have been a factor in the collision but the investigation is still ongoing.

In an unrelated incident, Castlegar RCMP responded to a break and enter at Bubblee’s Liquor Store on Friday, just after midnight.

The thieves broke a window, allowing them to get inside the business. Police dogs were brought to the scene but were unable to locate the culprits.

The RCMP are following up leads but ask the public to contact the detachment if they have any information regarding the event at 250-365-7721.
