A man who was hitchhiking from Grand Forks to Nelson to meet up with an “old snowboarding buddy” has gone missing, Kootenay Boundary RCMP are reporting.

Randy James Neilson was last seen in Grand Forks on Oct. 1 in a back alley near Market Avenue.

There was another possible sighting of Neilson on Oct. 8 which placed him on Highway 3 just east of Grand Forks, wearing a trench coat and a golf style cap while hitch hiking.

A Grand Forks RCMP investigation reveals Neilson’s presence in Grand Forks Oct. 1 was merely transient in nature as he was hitch hiking en route to Nelson. Neilson frequently utilized hitch hiking as his mode of transportation.

Police investigation has revealed a former address for Neilson in the Nelson area, as well as having friends and family in the Nakusp area.
