Trail man’s body identified

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man whose body was recovered from Little Wilson Lake as Michael Guthrie of Trail.

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man whose body was recovered from Little Wilson Lake near New Denver on July 9.

The body did in fact belong to 32-year-old Michael Guthrie of Trail, a recent autopsy found.

Guthrie was presumed drowned after his canoe capsized on May 25 during a camping trip with friends at the remote area about 38 kilometres north of New Denver.

The body was discovered last week by three men camping in the area and notified the RCMP.

The initial examination did not reveal evidence of foul play.
