An alleged thief is also facing drug charges after Trail police tracked him down to arrest him for theft.

“David Clysdale has been charged with Theft under $5000 … and for Possession a Controlled Substance …” Sgt. Mike Wicentowich reported late Tuesday.

The story began on Sunday, Feb. 17, when the Trail and Greater District RCMP Detachment responded to a report of a suspect allegedly stealing two portable electronic speakers from a store in the Waneta Mall.

“The RCMP conducted an investigation which lead them to identifying the suspect,” Wicentowich stated.

Then on Thursday, Feb. 21, Trail police located and arrested the suspect.

At the time of his arrest, Wicentowich says Clysdale was found to be in possession of a small quantity of drugs, believed to be fentanyl.

Clysdale is scheduled for his next appearance in Rossland Provincial Court on March 7.
