Police were called to the downtown area of Trail in response to a report from a security guard dealing with a male that had tried to pull a plant out of a planter box and then yell at the guard. Upon police arrival the male was informed that they were under arrest, during the handcuffing procedure the male became physically combative. Police deployed OC spray and the male was taken into custody. The male is now facing charges of assaulting a police officer and will be in court in early March.

On Jan. 4 police were called to a report of a breach of bail conditions resulting from a domestic assault. The male victim reported that they had received a phone call from the accused even though there were conditions is place restricting contact of any kind. The accused was located, arrested and held for a court appearance for an additional charge of Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.

In the early hours of Jan. 9 police were dispatched to a 911 call from a cell phone. The police attended the residence of the registered owner of the phone and discovered that the owner had most likely hit emergency buttons while sleeping which initiated the emergency response from police. Police remind everyone that these types of calls will be investigated as an emergency until determined otherwise so care should be taken with cell phones so 911 is not called inadvertently.
