Sep 11, 1927 - Apr 1, 2018
"Andy" was born in Massarosa, Italy in the province of Tuscany on September 11, 1927 to Raffaello and Zita Del Bucchia. He spent all of his youth in Massarosa.

As a teenager during WWII he worked cleaning up debris from the Allied bombing raids on Viareggio. He also spent a few months hiding out in woods with his father so they didn't get sent away to German work camps. This time generated the best adventure stories that my children couldn't get enough. After the war he enlisted as a carabinere which is our equivalent of the RCMP. During his stint with the carabinere he survived being shot during drug dealers arrest.

In 1950 he was sponsored to immigrate to Canada as three uncles lived and worked in Trail BC. His first jobs were with the CPR & the City of Trail before finding work at the CM&S now Teck Metals, Ltd. He took early retirement at the age of 57 so he could spend more time in Italy with his family and do more hunting & fishing. He was member of Cristoro Colombo Lodge.

He married Loredana Unti in 1953 and soon after, their first child Henry arrived, followed the next year by a daughter Miriam. The family grew to include grandchildren; Dina (Jason), Andrew (Helen), David (Alessia) and Diana and the great grandchildren; Sofia and Mattia Pera, and Sophia and Cosette Del Bucchia. He was preceded by his wife of 62 years Loredana.

He is survived by brother in laws Oreste and Luigi Unti and sister in laws Paredina, Marie and Mona Unti.

We want give a huge thank you to everyone at Castleview Care Centre. When he arrived, they nursed him back to health and made his remaining days pleasant and fun.
