July 1, 1926 - June 25, 2018
Alex Popoff Jr. was born on July 1, 1926 in Champion Creek Doukbour settlement and passed away peacefully with family at his side on June 25, 2018. 5 days short of his 92nd birthday. Alex was fortunate to live in his own home until the day he passed away.

In the 50's Alex and his family moved to the Marsh Creek area outside of Fruitvale where they cleared land and built their house. He spent many hours outside in the yard growing beautiful flowers and shrubs, tilling the huge gardens and mowing the large lawn.

In his youth he worked on building the Salmo-Creston highway, the Waneta dam and then went to work at Cominco for 35 years. Alex's most enjoyable pass time was fishing.

Alex loved driving and was so proud of his big black Chrysler New Yorker. He loved to go on holidays with the family and travelling. He went to the Calgary Olympics and many bus tours down into the States. He was a huge fan of hockey and boxing.

Alex was a very kind-hearted man with a great sense of humour. He loved all animals, our house pets both dogs and cats, watching animal shows on TV and visits to the Calgary zoo.

Alex is survived by his beloved care-giver and niece Linda Bauder, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews in the Deyotte, Messenger, Winsor and Bauder families. He is pre-deceased by his parents Alex and Lucy Popoff, sisters, Ann Popoff, Jane (Ken) Messsenger, Pauline Popoff, brother Peter Popoff and great nephew Jeffrey Bauder.

Funeral service will be held on July 3, 2018 in the Castlegar Funeral Chapel at 10AM. Internment to follow at the Boulder Creek Cemetary in Salmo, BC.
