On Monday, June 6, 2011, Morris McWatters passed away in his 90th year at Rosewood Village in Trail, BC with his loving family by his side.

Morris was born in Milden, Saskatchewan on August 12, 1921 to parents Alf and Jessie McWatters. After marrying his sweetheart Margaret Tait in 1942, Morris joined the Canadian Army and served from 1942 to 1946. Morris was a long standing member of the Rossland Royal Canadian Legion and died on the anniversary of D-Day in 2011.

Morris was predeceased by his loving wife Marg of 65 years in 2007, parents Alf and Jessie McWatters and brothers Bob and Don.

Morris is survived by his five children; daughters Lori (Rob), Loretta (Rob), sons Les (Barb), Lorne (Linda) and daughter Lorraine (Earl). He is survived by grandchildren Callie, Taylor, Cody, Cory, Rhonda, Wendy, Brenda, Jason and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Glenn McWatters, sister Betty Tait, sisters-in-law, Joyce Tait, Hilda Tait, Pat Lally and numerous nieces and nephews.

Morris had his own electrical business in Rossland throughout the 1960’s and 70’s and worked at Cominco from 1946 until retirement in 1985. He had many friends and treasured them along with his family.

His long journey as a farm boy from the prairies has come to an end. He will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered for his humanity, intelligence, compassion and humour.

A celebration of Morris’ life was held at a private family gathering and both Morris and Marg were interred on June 13, 2011 at Mountain View Cemetery in Rossland, BC. Bill Clark with Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” was entrusted with arrangements.
