It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother Anna Dattolo. Maria Anna Erba was born on July 21, 1934 in Italy, in the town of Casinale in the province of Avellino. On May 15, 2011, she passed away at the age of 76 years.

Anna emigrated to Canada to join her husband , Mike Dattolo, following a marriage by proxy in Italy. While raising four children, she enjoyed a career as a chef, cook, and banquet arranger. She was well known for her sense of humour, positive attitude, and strong religious faith. Anna will be remembered by her family, friends and the community of Trail as a genuine, loving and generous woman who always put the needs of others before her own.

Anna loved the outdoors, and was a prize winning, avid gardener. She loved cooking and generally feeding the masses. Some of her favourite activities were spending time with her grandchildren and dancing. She also loved animals, especially cats and birds, and had a special affinity for her “grandkitty” Munchie.

Family and friends may pay their last respects to “Nonna” (as she was lovingly referred to by many who knew and cared for her) at Personal Alternatives Funeral Services on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. At the viewing, her family will eulogize her. She will be interred Friday morning at Mountain View Cemetery in the Mausoleum in a private ceremony, for family only. This will be followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service and reception to be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, in Glenmerry. All are welcome.

Anna is survived by a son, Fred Dattolo (Janet, children Michael, Rachel, and Christina), daughter, Irene McEwan (children Patricia, Michelle, and Matthew), daughter, Sandy Hagen and grandchildren Jennifer Vehlow, Kenneth Snyder, and Katherine Snyder. Anna was also survived by many siblings and many other relatives in Europe.

She is predeceased by son-in-law, David Hagen, daughter, Margaret Synder, and husband, Michele Dattolo.
