It’s with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Borden (Sonny) Gilmour, loving father, brother, uncle and friend at the age of 79 in Trail BC.
Sonny will be fondly remembered by his son Joe (Beth) Gilmour of Fruitvale, BC, sister Loretta Blackwell of Cochrane, ON, nephew Mike (Shirley) Tonkin of Fruitvale, BC, niece Angela (Roy) Braun of Calgary, AB, and predeceased by: both parents, brother Ed Gilmour of Trail, BC, sister Mary (Ike) Wilson of Kirkland Lake, ON, sister Cora (Murray) Potter of Cochrane, ON, and nephew Trevor Tonkin of Fruitvale, BC.
Sonny was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario on October 21, 1932. He moved to Fruitvale with his family in 1964. He became a licensed mechanic in 1967 and worked at Speedway in Trail for years. In the early 1980’s he became a real estate agent with Century 21. Sonny had many talents and skills; he was a musician, pilot, inventor, entrepreneur and business man. He had many interests and hobbies: music, reading, hockey, trap shooting, flying, cars, motorcycles, gardening, politics, and cats.
There will be no service by his request. A private celebration of life will be held at a date to be yet determined. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may GOD hold you in the palm of His hand.
