June 12, 1958 - February 9, 2020
Brian Bernard Onyschak passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2020. He fought a long courageous battle with cancer, and the people who knew Brian knew he didn't lose fights too often.
Brian was born in Trail, BC, on June 12th, 1958. Brian leaves behind his wife Denise, son Scott, daughters Andrea and Julie, stepdaughter Chantelle, brothers Terry (Bev), Randy (Mary), sister Darlene (Lorne), and many nieces, nephews and cousins who he cherished dearly, not to mention many, many lifelong friends.
Brian started at Cominco in 1979 and just received his 40 year medal. He became involved with the Union early in his career and worked his way up through the executive to his current role as President Local 480. It was his honour to serve as President for the members of Local 480.
Brian enjoyed most outdoor activities, especially all the golf trips with his brothers. He also loved to drive his wife crazy by taking over the TV to watch his many sports. Especially Sportsdesk.
Brian and Denise loved to travel even if it was short trips to the hot springs, Kelowna or their wonderful adventures to Vancouver touring with his brother and sister in law. To sum it up, Brian loved and cared for his family and did everything to ensure their happiness, being the good and caring man that he was.
A family funeral was held on February 13th, with a "Celebration of Life" to follow on May 15th at the Local 480 Union Hall.
A big heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses in ICU who very caringly looked after Brian (and Denise) throughout this very difficult time.
