Claudio Augusto Pavan passed away peacefully Saturday November 14, 2015 after a brief stay in Kelowna General Hospital. He was born August 27, 1927 in Zoppola, Friuli, Italy, and moved to Trail B.C. in 1950 where he lived for the next 60 years, spending forty at (Teck-)Cominco and many decades with the Colombo Lodge. Since 2010 he has lived independently with his son Luigi’s family in Kelowna B.C. He was 88 years old.

Claudio is predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Luigia (nee Biasutti, 2009), and his sister Maria Pia (circa 1930). He is survived by his sisters Maria (Perugia, Italy) and Fausta (Zoppola), his children Adriana (husband Pasquale), Luigi (wife Jennifer), Roberto (Anne), Marcello (Kim) and the twelve grandchildren who brought him so much joy: Geremia, Francesca, Sofia, and Giovanna (Adriana); Owen, Liam and Jonah (Luigi); Enzo and Dante (Marcello); and Caroline, Henry and Julia (Roberto).

A Prayer service was held at First Memorial Funeral Service in Kelowna on Wednesday, November 18th, 2015 at 3:00 PM. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday November 28, 2015 at 1pm at the Holy Trinity Parish in Trail. As we mourn the unexpected loss of a wonderful father, brother, nonno, and friend, let us take comfort that even as his body slowed, throughout he remained proudly independent (flying to Vancouver alone in July) and intellectually active (calling up friends and arguing politics), surrounded by the cacophony of his beloved family. He was, and is, at peace. A man of his character will never be forgotten.
