David Roy MacPherson passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 12, 2011. David was born on April 1, 1926 in Calgary, Alberta. He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine, children Pat McLachlan (Tom), Barbra Hesson (Bob), George MacPherson (Lynn) and Don MacPherson. Also his four grandchildren, Ed McLachlan (Michelle), Andrew McLachlan (Rose), Nicolas Hesson, David Hesson and his great-grandchildren Emma and Ethan McLachlan and many nieces and nephews.

David grew up in Brooks, Alberta and moved to Trail in 1943. He met Lorraine and they married in 1953. He was in the RCA Corp of the military as a Gunner from 1944 to 1946 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was employed at Cominco for 39 years. David loved nature and the outdoors, particularly camping with his extended family at Marcus Island Campground in Washington. He was a long-time fan of the Trail Smokeaters. He had a great sense of humour and no one escaped his quick wit.

A viewing will take place at “Carberry’s Chapel” on Monday, July 18 at 7:00 pm. Friends of the family are welcome to attend. A celebration of his life will be held at the Trail Royal Canadian Legion at 2141 Columbia Avenue at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 20th with Reverend Ken Siemens officiating.
