In Loving Memory ~
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dina Fresu, the beloved matriarch of the Fresu/Fabbro family, on November 30th, 2024, at the age of 91.
Born in Trail, British Columbia, in 1933, Dina spent her entire life in Trail and Rossland. In 1954, she married Roy Fresu, and together they ran Roy's Superette in the Gulch for many years, serving their close-knit Italian community. Through this time, they forged lasting friendships that enriched their lives.
Dina was a devoted mother to her daughter, Bonnie Gosselin, and son, Rick Fresu, and daughter in-law Suzie Fresu. Dina's three grandchildren, Cody Fresu (Amanda and daughter Zoe), Rikki Grimsley (Tyler), and Mathew Gosselin (Kyla), were her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Dina shared a special bond with her younger brother, Ron Fabbro, a relationship she held close to her heart. She was loved dearly by all her nieces and nephews.
Known for her exceptional cooking and baking, Dina's Italian dishes were the highlight of every family gathering. She was a gifted seamstress, an avid gardener, and a gracious homemaker who took great joy in creating a warm, welcoming home.
Dina had a remarkable ability to remember every special occasion, finding joy in giving, whether through baked goods, rice bags, doll clothes, or hand-knitted and crocheted gifts. Her thoughtful homemade gifts and crafts, made with love and precision, were a testament to her nurturing spirit.
A proud member of the Catholic Women's League and the Sisters of Colombo for 74 years, Dina embodied kindness, service, and devotion throughout her life.
Dina was predeceased by her beloved husband Roy, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage, as well as her parents, Italia and Antonio Fabbro.
The family would like to give special thanks to the 3rd floor medical staff, especially Dr. Hamilton, Emergency Room Doctors and Nurses and Ambulance, Fire dept. and Police attendees.
Dina requested that there be no formal service. Wayne Szopa of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
