October 10, 1953 – August 2, 2021
We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Don Underwood on August 02, 2021 at the Trail Hospital. Don was predeceased by his parents Frank (Ray) and Ellen (Sis) Underwood. He is survived by his brother Terry (Linda), nephews David (Kathy), Steven (Denise), Tyler (Meghan) and seven grand nieces and nephews.
Don lived in the family home in Montrose for the past 63 years. From the 1980s to his retirement in 2018, he owned and operated Don’s Parcel Service. This business was the perfect fit for Don as it provided him with the opportunity to meet and visit with people, something that he immensely enjoyed. Don’s honesty, reliability and generosity enabled him to generate numerous long-term customers in Trail and the surrounding area.
Don loved to travel. Every summer he would head out for an adventure with his dog in the family motorhome. He would usually include a pass through Kamloops to see his brother and wife Linda, nephews and their families. Don loved car shows as well and would visit them in the Okanagan and Kootenay area.
You could ask Don a question about any summer vacation going back decades and he could recall every detail, day by day. He was gifted with an incredible memory. Don loved a home cooked meal and would always make his way back to Kamloops for a week at Christmas.
He enjoyed visiting with the family, playing games (5 dice was his favourite) and feasting on all the Christmas meals and treats.
Don was a kind, positive and friendly person. He always had a smile on his face, never complained, and would do anything for anybody. He especially loved conversations with the people that were fortunate enough to have met him.
He will be deeply missed by his family.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Don’s name may be made to the Trail SPCA.
