March 31, 1928 - November 21, 2021
Dad requested only 2 words, "Don Gone" for his obituary, but when do children ever listen?
Don was born on March 31, 1928, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He married Marcelle Cote and settled in Fruitvale where they raised their 6 children. Don is survived by the love of his life, Marcelle.
He also leaves his children, Patricia (Ken) Kavaliunas, Alan (Evelyn), Earl, Teresa (Cliff) Thompson, Burt (Evie), Rita Kidd; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; his sister Shirley Zanier and many nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his parents Olaf and Gertrude, his brothers Ronald and Douglas, his great-granddaughter Zoey and his daughter-in-law Pat (Earl).
Don enjoyed mining, hunting, fishing and camping with Marcelle in his "grape" van which he personally outfitted. He spent many days with his children and grandchildren boating, fishing and teaching some to tie flies of which he was a master. He enjoyed making people laugh and always had a kind smile and joke to tell. He will be greatly missed by all.
As they say in the mines Pop, "Tap'r lite"
The family would like to thank the staff at Mountainside Village in Fruitvale, the Beaver Valley Clinic and KBRH for the care and attention their father received.
A small family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Dad's life.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Don's name may be made to the KBRH Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca
